Less than a week to go and we are off to Mali. On Monday evening we had an exciting group chat with Debby Fredo and Annemieke Mol Lous via Skype. Debby is, together with Maria Keita, one of the heads of the IEP facility whereas Annemieke is the driving force here in the Netherlands. Well, we realized there is a lot to do before we are off! But we are getting there. With 46 kg luggage each plus hand luggage we literally will have our hands full. But lets be honest, we would not be able to use all our luggage allowance if it wasn't for all the great help from so many people!
Therefore we would like to thank all the fantastic people who were so generous and donated:
A big “Thank you” to all the employees of the OPCW, who donated a lot of children’s clothes, games, cuddly toys and not to forget a considerable sum of money. What a fantastic result! We are planning on using the money to the greatest benefit for the handicapped children, so keep on following this blog. We will keep you informed!
Also a big “Thank you” to Linda from the LUMC, she donated a big box of stationary, which will be to great benefit to the children and the school in Mali.
We just heard today that we would be able to get 18 wheelchairs from a hospital in Roosendaal. These would be a great help for the handicapped children in the school as well as in their homes! Now we just need to figure out how to transport them to Mali. Maybe there is an airline which would be willing to transport them for the good cause? We will see… ☺
More about it soon.
For tomorrow I have arranged a charity dinner with some friends, which will hopefully be a success. Also more about that in one of the following blogs!
To finish here, we would like to say how overwhelming it has been to see the fantastic response we got after telling about our project. So people, do you have any suggestions or comments? Or you would like to help? Let us know!
Cheers, Jill
